I began the Oliver Weston Company (named for our first two boys) to share my homemade traditional foods with nutrition clients back in 2011. At that time I was making yogurt, kombucha, kefir, bone broths, lactofermented vegetables and beverages, soaking and slow-cooking my beans and grains, and making all our meals from scratch, and of course I was recommending to my clients that they do the same! However, no one can possibly keep up with this sort of schedule for very long, and clients began asking if they could purchase my homemade extras. The business took off from there and we now serve around 50 NYC households weekly from our commercial kitchen in Red Hook, NY and have just opened our first shop to serve the Hudson Valley. All our foods are made with care exactly the way I always made them at home since adopting traditional foods principles. Our kitchen is dedicated gluten-free and we offer a large number of options for customers on special healing diets: GF/CF, dairy-free, Paleo/Primal, GAPS, grain-free, WAPF, etc, and everything we offer is suitable for anyone who wants organic, locally-sourced delicious food free of refined sugar and vegetable oils. I personally find the soups, stews, lactofermented vegetables, veggie purees, and coconut flour muffins to be my most important staples. Our three young boys enjoy the full array of our products, though they stay mostly grain-free to keep their immune systems strong and we have one nut-free boy. My husband Hugo is the behind-the-scenes magic-maker and child wrangler extraordinaire. I could not do this without him. I am here to answer your questions, provide support and guidance when it comes to selecting the best foods for your family, help you connect with local sources of farm-fresh foods like Real Milk, and recommend blogs and cookbooks if you want to do the cooking yourself. Our grain-free waffles continue to be a bestseller. Made from green plantains, spring water, coconut oil, pastured eggs, and Himalayan pink salt. That’s it! Heat in a toaster oven....or make friends with the chef so you get invited over for fresh ones. 😉

A crock of our Paleo "tortilla" soup topped with avocado and some really good sour cream...nothing can beat this for a filling and flavorful meal! Made with organic veggies, glass-jar crushed tomatoes, our gelatinous chicken broth, and plenty of shredded soy-free pastured chicken.
We still have a few of our new chocolate and vanilla marble loaves...enjoy with coffee or tea, and maybe a view or a good book. What keeps me going on my 12+ hour shifts in the kitchen? Good food that is super nutrient-dense...like this elk liver pate. (On the menu this week: lamb liver pate!) Our liver is always 100% grass-fed, raised the way nature intended, and carefully prepared to be delicious and nourishing. A true SUPER food! Summer is turning to Autumn... and it's time for the Village of Red Hook's 40th Hardscrabble Day! (My lovely new employee Jordan informed me that Red Hook used to be called Hardscrabble -- such an evocative name!!) I had serious misgivings when I tasted the batter...but it turned out to be one of our yummiest loaves to date! Peach butter loaf made with coconut flour, pastured eggs, coconut oil, raw honey, nutmeg, cloves, ginger...and our homemade peach butter.
Where did the last ten days go?! We've been cooking up a storm with fantastic local produce from Starling Yards Farm and Flyaway Farm. Beef brisket in summer...? You bet! Ours is 100% pastured/grass-fed, braised for 4-6 hours until nice and tender, with onions and carrots and our homemade beef broth.
